Our Team

Jayne Nelson

Jayne is the co-owner and operator of Great Urban Pet Escapes. Her two passions are working with local shelters to improve the lives and welfare of animals and developing and implementing programs for incarcerated women.

Jayne has developed foster care and dog training programs in conjunction with several BC women’s prisons that have enriched the lives of the women and the dogs.

She has been a professional dog trainer for over 22 years, including extensive training for patrol dogs and officers in the US for the Nevada Department of Prisons.

Alicia Holmes

Alicia is the co-owner and operator of Great Urban Pet Escapes. She has worked as a trainer and animal behavioural expert for the past 8 years, with an additional 4 years as a Veterinarian Assistant.

Alicia is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers, holds the Professional Dog Obedience Trainer Certificate, Guard Dog Trainer Certificate, Instructor Certificate, and regularly attends conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay current and up to date.

Our Company

Great Urban Pet Escapes Inc. is a full service boarding and training center founded by Jayne Nelson and Alicia Holmes.

We both love our work and want our clients and guests to enjoy our facility as much as we enjoy running it.

Our main focus is to create an enjoyable and low stress environment for dogs, where they have plenty of exercise and play time.

We often donate our services to the SPCA and other non-profit societies, to help them train, take care of, and rehabilitate dogs back into the community.
